It was the day after I spent the entire early morning talking horror films with Bruce LaBruce at a hooker bar in Madrid and I’m feeling a little shady. BUT I’m determined to max out my weight on the smith machine squats and a lil hang over ain’t gonna get in my way…
For those of you who are new followers, I suffered a bad hip injury in 2010 that also resulted in pulling my knee out as well. I had to do re-hab on legs for 12 months and start again from scratch. I talking 10 kilos on each side Squats! I’m now back training at the level of intensity that I used to before the injury but always with caution.
I always start with 2 warm up sets for squats, free or ‘Smith’ machine. Then today I jumped up to 80 kilos for 2 reps. Then 120 kilos which is around my max weight for squats post injury. Today I go to 140 and smash out 10 reps. But my main goal is 160 kilos. And I get 4 good reps out.
