the most underrated GREAT AUSSIE HORROR “Creature Features” EVA!

By RORI and POP-CULTURE! No Comments

of course Im talking about Razorback!

I cant remember where or when I first saw this film? But it has always been one of my fav horror films.  Recently the Prince Charles Cinema  gave me an opportunity I never thought I would ever get in my life time, to see Razorback on the big screen. Rewatching it, and dragging my man and a bunch of mates to see it for the first time, I got to rediscover it all over again and realised that it was one of the greatest horror films, not only to come out of Australia, but ever made. It wasn´t a hit at the time of its release and was criticised for its lack of character and story. (But I seem to remember the exact same thing being said about Jurassic Park when it came out.) I hate films that are style of substance, esp when the style seems forced for want of being stylistically cool. Every second of Razorback is, unapologetically stylistic. The director was even quoted saying the film will look so good no one will care about dialogue! And in his defence, he was absolutely right. It works in the films favour and completely drowned me in the tension, alienation and horror the story puts its lead character in. It plays out like a brilliant looking nightmare and I loved ever second of it.

“One of the best looking films I have ever seen!”
